Collation and Induction of Fr Andrew Burton
On 16th January 2008, Fr Andrew Burton was collated by the Bishop of St Albans and the Bishop of Richborough as the 15th Vicar of St Peter's Bushey Heath. The Rural Dean of Aldenham then carried out Fr Andrew's induction into the parish.
The service was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Hertsmere, the MP for Hertsmere and numerous clergy from the Aldenham Deanery, other denominations within the Bushey area and nearby Forward in Faith parishes. Fr Andrew's family and friends were joined by guests from his former parishes as well as guests from the Bushey Heath community. This was matched by a splendid turnout from St Peter's own congregation. After the service the guests and congregation met in the Parish Hall to enjoy some light refreshments and to congratulate Fr Andrew on his appointment.
During the service, Fr Andrew and his family were formally welcomed by Mr Keith Honour on behalf of the Churchwardens and PCC of St Peter's, Mr David Clout on behalf of the Aldenham Deanery, the Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Martin Saunders, on behalf of the civic community, Fr Michael Markey of Sacred Heart Bushey on behalf of Bushey and Oxhey Churches Together, Mr Laurence Brass on behalf of the Bushey Inter-Faith Forum and the Jewish community and, finally, by Mr Sean David on behalf of St Peter's youth club and the youth of St Peter's.
